PROJECT TITLE

“Regenerative Mechanisms for Health" ReMedy

SUBPROJECT TITLE:

“Bunyaviral translation strategies”

PROJECT LEADER

Piotr Gerlach / Laboratory of Structural Virology

SUBPROJECT DESCRIPTION

Segmented negative-strand RNA bunyaviruses remain in the cytoplasm where they perform both transcription and replication of their genetic material. Little is known about the direct interaction of bunyaviral proteins with cellular translation factors. The aim of this project is to characterise function and structure of the viral-host protein complexes involved in altering cellular host translation during infection.
We are looking for a motivated PhD applicant, interested in learning cutting-edge structural biology techniques (cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography). Experience in purification and biochemical characterization of protein complexes would bean advantage.
